Animals

I have always been close to animals. I live on a farm with no less than 4 dogs ever (5 at the moment), 10 cats (16 at the moment, only 3 inside cats) and two horses. Minimum. And I've always loved it. I've had pigs, and cows, and sheep and rabbits for a while, but we always manage to come back to dogs, cats and horses.

I can't imagine living without animals. My two cats rule my life completely. They own me without any doubt. My dog does, too, for that matter. My personal animals (of the 11 at my house) are two cats named Tiger and Kidd, and my wonderful dog, Annie.
Even though I've always had them and always loved them, I didn't start working with animals other than my own until this year. For school I had to do community service work, so I volunteered at PROD. "Promoting the Responsible Ownership of Dogs." It's like the animal shelter, but a LOT more humane. We only try to find homes for dogs. NOT euthanize them when they've been here too long. After that one day of service work, I decided to come back every Saturday to help out. I've even come perilousy close to adopting a dog, but my parents balked too long. She was adopted today (the day this page was made, June 26, 1999) actually. I'll miss her, but it was for the best. 3 Huge German Shepherds, I'm sure, is REALLY intimidating to a poor little Australian Shepherd/Blue Heeler mix. My spelling is probably atrocious. lol.

Anyway, I have an interview soon to start working at the vets. Basically, to get paid for doing the same thing I do when I volunteer. Sounds like a good deal to me.
